1. Install

Download the signed installer for your OS from the link emailed after purchase, or run the silent installer:

2. First-run setup

On first launch, StayDesk creates a local SQLite database at:

%APPDATA%\StayDesk\data.db (Windows)
~/Library/Application Support/StayDesk/data.db (macOS)
~/.local/share/StayDesk/data.db (Linux)

Walk through the onboarding wizard to configure hotel name, GSTIN, tax slabs, room types, restaurant categories, and the default admin account.

3. License activation

Paste the license key (format: ABS-STAY-PRP-2026-XXXXXXXX-XXXX) into Settings → License. StayDesk reads the device's Machine ID and binds the license to it. You can transfer to a new machine via Settings → License → Transfer (one transfer per year included).

License keys are validated offline via cryptographic signature — no internet needed after activation.

4. Backups

Settings → Backups → Schedule daily backups to a local folder or any cloud-synced folder (Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox). Backups are encrypted .zip files containing the full database + PDFs.

Does it work offline?

Yes — entirely. StayDesk runs against a local SQLite database. Internet is only needed for license activation and updates.

Can I move to a new computer?

Yes. From Settings → License → Transfer, you de-activate the current device and get a one-time code to activate the new one. One transfer per year is included.

Is GST handled?

Yes — configurable tax slabs (5/12/18%), GSTIN on invoices, HSN codes, and a monthly GSTR-1-ready export.

Do I get the source code?

Not by default. Source-available licenses are sold separately as a bespoke deal — contact us.
